Transmission problem options
Transmission problem options
I changed my fluid, filter today on the tranny and I was torquing down the bolts when one snapped. I proceeded to drill and use an easy-out, but that also snapped in there too. With that hardened steel easy-out chunk stuck in, my grandpa suggested we use a gasket maker stuff to cover up the spot. We put that on and then put the rest of the bolts on without the torque wrench, when a bolt stripped in its spot (barely even put force into it). Now my question is, since we cant get the bolt out do you think the gakset maker stuff will work when it dries and the stripped bolt hold up as well? I just noticed today you guys mentioned not reusing the old bolts which I did, so should we try them first or get new ones now before we replace the fluid? If the gasket stuff doesnt work then what other options do we have to get it fixed? Thanks.
I also thought you had to replace the bolts but i was told not to. It's only for the auto tranny when you drop the pan i think, that's when you change the bolts. honestly i don't think the stuff you put will hold nor is it good to have a stripped bolt. I'd try to do something about that.
