A/C not working, Compressor Problem
When I turn on my A/C in my 95 GLE, I hear the compressor go on, however, the air does not come out cold. I checked for leaks, but there are none. Since the compressor does turn on, I have a feeling/theory that maybe it is not compressing the freon to make it cold.
What I want to do next, is to test the high side pressure and low side pressure on the charging manifold. What I need to know is what should the gauges indicate.
Thank you

if the compressor is on then one of two things have happened....the compressor should never turn on unless there is enough freon in the system so you either have enough freon or number 2 the compressor seized and its running a dry system.(not good) turn your ac off and if the compressor releases your in the clear. your system should be charged.
GO TO pep boys. they have a fill hose with an idiot proof fill gauge. red bad yellow keep fillin - green your good...hook into the LOW side of the system never touch the high side to fill the system.
start car
hook up filler tube to can of freon
hook fill tube to LOW side of car (cold side)
watch gauge and fill as needed
now if you dont need freon you need to check the evaporator and condensor
