seafoam good or bad

I'm about to buy seafoam to clean the inside of my engine, i told my friend and he told me not to, that people on the org complained about seafoam stating that it causes your car to stall out and hesitate and act funny. is this true yes or no so i know not to buy it.

If i'm not mistaken, it will cause your car to run funny.....it's cleaning a lot of junk out. Beware it will smoke like no other.

I was actually thinking of using it myself though, but i would like to hear some reviews first.......

I've used it several times. On different vehicles. Never had a problem, but then again I use it VERY sparingly maybe twice a year.

Never heard of seafoam... but

If this is an internal engine cleaner that you mix with oil, don't do it, There are seals in the engine that have just enough smudge around them to be lubed out and not cause leaks (if there is none) Hence why some people don't clean out thier engines with Kerosene anymore.

IF this is a outside engine cleaner with spraying water, The ignition and wires can get moist or some type of condisation to cause crappy running or start-ups.

*Edit add* ok seems like this is stuff you add to your intake or booster line when the car is running, In that case, it should be fine.

I have done it twice, 6 oz via brake booster hose each time. Plan to do it again at next oil change. Seems to help with engine smoothness. Not very sure, though. The car is already very smooth.

you put it in the gas tank. japan has been using this for years follow by several neighboring countries. if one of your friends has this, borrow it and try it for a max of 2 weeks of regular driving. you will definitely notice the difference and no more use of additive for you if you have this.

Thing w/ doing seafoam on a 200k mile is that you might have too much carbon-builtup, thus MAY cause the cat to throw a CEL at you. I've done it plenty of times on quite a few cars.

Its placebo... I fell for it too back when I first tried it. I dont know if it works for the fuel system, as I've enver put that stuff in my gas tank. But I have used it being sucked up the brake booster hose maybe 3 times.

I've removed my IM, both upper and lower, several times. Seafoam is just a big and cool smoke show. The runners and the valves are no cleaner at all after Seafoaming. The only thing that got that crap out was spraying brake parts cleaner into the runners and intake side of the heads and wiping off the build up with a shop rag.

So it might work when used in the oil/ fuel system. But when used to clean the IMs, its useless.

you can remove carbon built-up by using the gasoline catalyst.
