I am having a problem with my 95. I recently (4weeks ago) had an 0607 code. It was a cylinder 2 misfire code. As a neighbor and I looked it over we found that an injector went bad. we had not resistance on the electrical prongs. I bought a refabricated injector and installed it. It stopped misfiring as bad but keeps doing it. Mostly when in gear (Drive or Reverse). Not as bad in park or neutral.
I thought then that it could be the spark plug. I changed it to a new NGK I got at the dealer. Did not help much. So I changed the ignition coil on that same cylinder. That was not it either. By this time I cleared the code when I put in the new injector. Since then I have not received another CEL.
I then thought it might be the injector but I hear it working. I ran a tank with berryman chemtool to see if it helps and nothing. Recently it did not do it when the tank was full. Only when it got to less than half the tank. Now it does it a 3/4 of tank.
I am out of ideas. Has anybody had the same problem and fix. Help please, my state inspection is due this month June.

did u have a NEW pintle cap installed on the new injector? its the plastic part that goes on the tip... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ONE cuz didnt put them on and had the same problem.. missfired when in drive and slowly cuzin....

what would that pintle cap look like. I saw it had some thing sticking in from of the injector and had a 4 or 2 (can't remember) little prongs. like a ring would have to hold a stone on. is that it?

 

yes its the ring that fits over the end of the nozzle it has 4 prongs... make sure you have that installed.. i learned the hard way...

 

well yeah, that is installed. I checked that first when I installed it because the old one had a prong broken. Any other ideas.

 

If you are getting a misfire while in park, try unplugging each coil pack as the car is running. If there is no change when a coil pack is unplugged then you know it's at least that cylinder and maybe even that coil pack.

CEL codes, from my expierence, are not always correct. Don't rely on the code telling you exactly what the problem is.

 

Probably another injector going out...

 

Thanks for the advice. I will try testing out the coil packs and the other injectors. I will probably test the rear injectors when I have time to remove the IM.
I was walking through the steps of the nissan repair manual on cylinder misfire and I still have to check the fuel pressure in the line. Are these symptoms similar to a fuel pump failure? Has anyone had a FP failure?

 

wow....I have the EXACT same problem.

Changed the plug (it was white) - no help
Changed the coil pack - no help
Checked the resistence on the injector - within spec.
changed the injector - SOLVED

...but now its misfiring again and I have the code.

HELP! WTF!!!

So you got a cyl 4 misfire and changed plug/coil/injector and then the code came back to cyl 4 misfire? You replaced it with a new injector?

 

yep replace the o rings also...

 

Yeah I just got back from Vegas and now my car is misfiring upon acceleration.. just changed spark plugs... cleaned the coil packs, and it's still doing it...
