Transmission Question

Transmission Question

today i took my 97 maxima to Cottman transmission for a trans flu change. the guy suggest me not to touch it cuz the flu is bured or something and if i do get it change the trans might go bad.......is it true?

sorta. Burned fluid indicates the tranny is not working 100%, and changing the fluid can be just enough to clog a shift solenoid or something like that.

IMO, draining and replacing the fluid presents much less risk of this. It's the 'power flush' stuff that seems to be most risky.
