Max broken into - San Antonio

I was hit last nite at a movie theater. Stole my MA Audio 12s and MA Audio amp. Broke my front passenger side window and couldnt get my head unit out so they took the face plate and broke the rest of it. My ac doesnt work now and I had to spend $173 to repair the window. If I find those punks (which I doubt) the police are going to have to come and get me off em. Just wanted to vent.

That stinks. Which theatre were you at? Most of the nicer ones have security cameras now for that specific reason. Hope you had your gear listed with your insurance agent.

It seems like these car thieves are taking advantage of the time when people, which are car enthusiast, are out watching the FF3 movie. BTW, is that the movie you went to see? I always remove the face plate of my stereo and take it with me or hide it in the trunk somewhere. Also, when I'm pulling up to a parking structure, I turn my radio down that way I am not targetted. Most of these thieves hang out at garage entrances to scope out who they are going to target next.

How where you subs in you trunk? Like just a plain box with the amp on top? Or was it like the in the trunk with the subs facing the rear seat and bolt to the floor?

I had the subs in the trunk, I didnt have them bolted down because I wanted to be able to get at my spare. I didnt have my music turned up or anything. I think they hit the nicest car in the lot to be honest. I have pics but I dont know how to post them. Yeah, I took my neph to see FF3.

That sucks. My fog lights got stolen which are about $200. If you have a factory alarm, you should do that shock sensor mod. I did it to mine and theres no way in hell anyone is breaking my windows without the alarm going off. It could possibly scare them off. It wouldn't hurt.

I am not even gonna deal with the insurance. I already know they wont cover aftermarket stereo equipment. To replace my window was 173 so it wasnt even worth the deductable. Cop told me that it doesnt matter what car alarm you have (short of that one in the first Robocop movie), if they want in they will get in and steal your goods.

My brother lives in San Antonio and they took his 94 civic hatchback about two weeks ago from his apartment complex. He had a viper alarm w/ that lcd screen shockwave, or whatever its called, and they still took it. My bro told me that the alarm still showed it was locked. He had a gsr motor in it, with some rota cisuit 8's. The car was quick-- it ran a 14.4 on street tires.....and they jacked it!!!! They found it two days later, COMPLETELY STRIPPED!! no seats, no dash, no fenders, no windows... just the frame!! And they covered what was left of it with tranny fluid, to cover the prints!

my car recently got stolen, and it was recovered 4 hours later, sans an interior. My window was smashed, subs, amp, cap, screen, ps2, headunit, speakers, leather, and center console were taken, not to mention to head and taillights.

Good thing they didnt pop the hood :-D

ok this is gonna sound newbish ... doesnt a kill switch make it impossible to steal the car ?..and with a lot of the kill switches, even if the wires are cut, the car cant be started ... so if they cant get the car started, how do they take it ? ... i mean if someone thought of the absolute best place to put a kill switch, how does a thief take it ?

ALSO.. i read a post a while back about an expensive shifter that guaranteed no theft of your car ... its a locking shifter, but not just any ol shifter .. this thing was was like state of the art... so if you cant shift the car, it cant go anywhere .....

THOUGHTS ???

Viper alarm and stay low key. It sucks but you cant play your system cause people hawk you. Only suggestion I can give you is invest in a good alarm and stay cool.. Who was that guy on here with the max with 15k in mods "arafio" something likke that. Baddest maxima on the org and he was in jersey at a hotel and heard is alarm go off. Ran down stairs they were stripping his ****, he went to whip *** and they pulled guns.

That was the end of that car.

Now if they dont have guns, lay the *** beating :P

I have to find some way of bolting/screwing down my sub box to the floor, then face the amp and sub to the rear seat so its not able to get to since the 4th gen back seat to fold down, because this isnt right...

I'm going to do the same thing, I did this with my previous 4th gen. What I did was I removed the back rest of the rear seat. I bought some "L" and regular brackets from home depot. Move the sub box all the way until it rests right up against the metal panel where the back rest leans on. Then bolt the top portion of the box to the metal panel using the regular brackets. Then using the "L" brackets, bolt the bottom portion of the box onto the floor. Then reinstall the rear seat back rest. That sub box isn't going anywhere! Unless the thief can figure out how to remove the rear seat. However, you can probably use some special bolt (with a key) to hold the rear seat back rest in.

The amp will overheat because there's no place for the heat to dissipate to, even if the amp has an internal cooling mechanism. Heat has to go somewhere else.

Mine got broken into last summer at my house. The one night I left my gym bag/laptop in the trunk, someone hit my car (with a slim jim) and to add insult to injury took my steering wheel cover. The bexar county sheriff said well theres a lot of construction in the area and left.

Yea but just like they did here, they will get what they can and break the rest of it. Even if it is secured into the dash, what good is a smashed headunit?
