Anyway, I wouldn't recommend the split boot for the CV joint. The stock boots or equivalents run about $9-$12 bucks each. You can get those at Chuck's or Kragen's. I think Carparts.com has the split boots if you really wanted one.

yea i wouldnt recommend the split boot also. Depending on if and how long your boot's been torn, id recommened to replace the whole axle or juss the boot. Keep in mind Labor on replacing boot and replacing axle is basically the same.

if you're doing it youself, the split boot may seem the easy way out... however you still want to clean out all the junk that's gotten into the cv joint, otherwise, it'll just grind away... then you need to make sure the boot will hold the grease in there.
a new cv boot done by someone will cost around $80-120 parts and labor (parts is like $10-15)
a rebuilt/used halfshaft installed will cost around $120-$140 parts and labor. Most have warranties if they are rebuilt... the partis like $75-$85 but the labor is less.
