difference between a 96 and a 98 I30 exhaust

hey I have a 98 i30t and a friend of mine has a 96 i30. I have a stock exhaust and he has teh WS y pipe / b pipe / res and the dynomax muffler. He wants to go back to stock and i want to take his.

So i jsut wanted to know if our cars have any differneces that would make that impossible.
Would the Cali and noncali make a difference?

It's not impossible. The 95-96 has the 02 sensor in the cat. 97-99 has a small extension S pipe after the cat that the 02 is fitted in instead. So your exhaust might be a bit short. But its no big deal, take it to an exhaust shop and they'll take care of it.

What if we fully swithc exhaust, including the cat and everthing from the header back. Then wouldnt it not matter that the piping is diff because the voids are teh same?

Also, would we be able to just switch y-pipes with no problems??

p.s do you know any good exhaust shops in brooklyn?
