99 max 5 spd Stalling, Lurching, and Idling

I'm at 100k and she stalls when I drop it in neutral coming to a stop. Usually the rpms will do a funny little dance up and down up and down between 0 -2000 rpms before completely dropping to dead 0.

Also in 2nd and 3rd, the car magically brakes on its own thrusting me forward, (almost as if all the oxygen supply to engine gets cut off for a split second).

Anyone know what the heck is going on here? Please tell me it's nothing tragic...

First step, pull codes.

Sounds like it could be one or more of the following:

Fuel filter, dirty injectors, air filter, MAF sensor, dirty throttle body, dirty EGR, bad PCV valve, loose tube in vacuum regulator (EGR or otherwise).

I agree that first step is to pull codes. Next, perform routine maintenance. I am betting on the PCV valve.
