i would be more concerned about the fact that you have no vin # than what color it is. sounds like it could have been stolen

The only year ever in the history of Maximas to have a color offered with that name in it was 2004.

Isn't there one spot where supposedly only the FBI knows where it is? I would think that if the car were taken apart piece by piece, the VIN should be stamped in several places (as opposed to the paper labels). Then the car can be reassembled and the paint code written down on a piece of paper that will get lost eventually, and the process of dismantling can be done again...

It isn't! I worked for the CHP and we would have to look in several locations to confirm the vin was the same throughout.

I wasn't arguing that. I know it's stamped all over the place. If you didn't notice, I quoted the part about some place "only the FBI knows about."

oh well, there goes my unique feelin', you know the one where you have call the dealer for "secret code" info cause SOMEBODY forgot to put the D@^# plate on the car!! did you atleast get the 2 plastic studs in the firewall where the plate is SUPPOSED to be? yes, i got mine, thank you very much. no it's not a stolen issue, it's more like an oops thing.

i've NEVER heard of an assembly line(forget the dealer, they get in in one piece) forgetting to put a vinplate on a car, EVER. and i'm in the insurance business, i look for vins all the time to make sure im looking at the right car. either your cars were in severe accidents and they had to replace enough of the structure that they took it off and forgot to put it back on, or the old owner took it off for some reason, or the car is stolen and you dont know about it. all your doors should have a vin sticker, as well as the wheel well areas on the 1/4 panels, one on the hinge pilar on the driver side, one on each fender and hood. as far as a plate goes, one under the hood and one on the engine/trans block one on the dash. my 89 had a plate instead of a sticker on the hinge pilar. and last but not least there should be and engraving of your vin on the firewall right in the middle. if they all match, and math your title, you're all good, if a bolt on one doesnt match or is missing, chances are the part was replaced. so long as dash and firewall match your title you're all good.
