exhaust piping question
exhaust piping question
i was wondering does going from 2.25in to 2.5 inch exhaust piping without making the transisiton smooth make a car sound more raspy? like for example you weld a 2.5in inlet muffler on a 2.25in stock exhaust system without having some piece of pipe that converts the pipe size smoothly, would it sound raspyer because of the abrubt change in pipe diameter?
I personally have around 2.25" piping on my car and I have a 2.5" inlet muffler. The place where I went used the pressure bending machine with a flaring attachment to flare it to 2.5" pretty much where it met the muffler. Doesn't sound any more raspy than it did when I had my old piping. Don't know how it would be on a 4th gen, but in my 2nd gen there was no problem
i have some minor work done to my max and the y-pipe i have has a 2.5in outlet!!!i also have 2.25in straight piping from the y-pipe to the muffler
(no cats or resonators).
should i do 2.5in all the way back straight pipe?????
