How many 4th Gen's are on the road, worldwide?
Actually, I should have said A32 instead of 4th Gen, because I wish to include the Max's, I30's, Cefiro's, etc., in my question. Like, does anyone have a ballpark figure on how many exist worldwide?
How about just the US?
I guess I could look at cumulative sales numbers as a proxy, and use some kind of fudge factor to estimate how many are still running as of 2006?

Last week I tried finding sales figures all over and couldn't. Tried Nissan-USA, Nissannews, NissanGlobal, Theautochannel, etc.
I'm looking specifically for 95-99 USA sales vs 00-02 myself for a "research paper"
Any tips?

I've got a '98, I had a '98 I30 and my friend has a '98 GLE so that's 3 right there....
I see where you are going, but figuring in wrecked, mechanical failure, theft and things like that would make any answer a guess at best.

You could try writing a letter to Nissan and asking them how many were sold. If you tell them what you want the data for, you might get a response. There are also organizations that do research on theft and accident (total loss) rates on cars. Insurance companies need this sort of data. They might be able to help you out. Finally, you could try going to the largest public library in your area and asking a research librarian. They know where to go for all kinds of wacky data. Good luck.

Here's an easy way to figure it out:
1. write a letter to everyone in the world, (enclose a self addressed stamped envelope)
2. ask them to reply if they have a 4th gen, (preferably by the 15th of next month)
3. count your replies

Well, I found out through the Nissan website that they sold, worldwide, around 139k Maximas in 1999 and 131K Maximas in 1998. They did not have comparable # for 1995-97, but I would conservatively estimate that they sold 119K in 1997, 108K in 1996, and 95K in 1995.
Could not find out about the # of 4th Gen I30's because they are distributed through Nissan North America, and they only a total # of both Nissans and Infinitis for North America.
Probably could estimate them, though.
