shifting without lifting off throttle (vids inside)

I am thinking of getting a short shifter. Going from 2nd to 3rd sucks but I did pretty good in this run. I shifted a little early because it was my first time trying it 2nd to 3rd. The other shifts are cake but this one always makes me cringe right before doing it. Anyone else do this? I haven't tried it at the track yet.
Does it help?
Anyways let me know what yas think www.putfile.com/smotz
(got inspired to video and put up a few 0 to 80 runs by the other guy that posted them earlier )

That shifting is super quick for sure. But i don't think the clutch likes it very much...

Na no smells at all. When I launch the car I rev to like 4 or 5k and slip the clutch like hell so the tires don't spin too much and so I don't get wheel hop. Doesn't smell then either. It's a stage IV clutch and has been very good to me.
I have chirped 3rd a few times with it.

those are nice runs and i can't help but cringe when it's shifted hard. I know it can take it, but i still have the stock one, which in my opinion is weak...maybe that's why i feel that way. Sounds nice though....revs up nicely...now drive it nice LOL

I don't think that is much faster for how much extra wear you are putting on the components. In that small amount of time between shifts the car still stops accelerating and if you think about it there is a fraction of time that the engine/flywheel/clutch/tranny/diff/axles have to catch up to each other.

I think fast crisp shifts would be just as fast or faster.

at least touch the pedal, the clutch releases all the force you are placing on it. your basically jamming the gears together for no difference. i can shift as fast if not fast than someone speed shifting. its dumb

All I know is that on my dads motorcycle if you powershift the correct way the pickup is faster than you could ever be if you shifted extremely fast normally. But maybe in this case it doesn't make a difference?.

Neal (Nealoc187) said he noticed .1-.2 difference in his 1/4 mile time with powershifting. I dont do it, I just get nice, quick shifts in, and still rip second, and chirp third with my 5th Gen clutch.

Him using the clutch is one of those things that's understood and doesn't need to be said explicitly.
