It was a factory option.

YOu can put after market ones on there. It will be cheaper. But if you want them to look like they belong there, then you need the factory ones. They are about 100 bucks for all for. they are simple to put on. 3 screws hold each of them on. Simply take of the existing black moldings and replace them with the mudflaps. I have a set, but I had them painted mohogany pearl. Too bad, I would have sold them to you cheap.

Do a web search for Maxima "Splash Guards" - this is the proper name for them. You're likely to find some Nissan dealer somewhere that has a genuine Nissan set on clearance or for a pretty decent price. I got a set a couple of years ago (can't remember from where) for around $50 shipped. It only took about 15 minutes to install them. Great investment; really help keep car clean and prevent rocks from chipping your rocker panels.

Only problem with that is you're more likely to come across the under engine and wheel well covers.

parts.com is where i got mine from. the dealer didnt have any nor did they know when they get them back in stock. It took about a month for them to come though...also, check out the "parting out" threads, you might get lucky...
