they're not like the injen. the place racing one requires drilling a 3" hole in your fender well ( http://www.geocities.com/nismorg/Maxima/cai.html )

Bomz or whatever that Ebay stuff is does make a PR style CAI. Look for the one with the regular style mid pipe, not the one with the 90* bend like the Injen. The Ebay PR style is just a good as the real PR, and at a much lower price.

and if you dont like it you can always take off the CAI extension and you should just have a normal intake. well that what it looks like from the ebay picutre.

This one is. It's pretty cheap also, you might want to switch out the crappy filter with a K&N or better.

that small pipe w/o the weld is your mid pipe. the 90* angle with the weld connects to the MAF and then goes down your fender.

I never had an intake system or seen them in person but i just kept looking at pictures and put one and one together. but i could be wrong..

this is a injen intake

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INJEN...spagenameZWDVW

you see that little mid pipe. its not str8 like the other one it has a 90* well more like 75* bend and that goes behind your radiator.

BTW. can someone confirm that if you take off the CAI extention it is exact the same as a reg intake?

I have the PR CAI and 99grnmaxgxe is right. The bent piece connect to your MAF and bends down and behind your battery tray where you have to cut a 3" hole where it enters the void below the battery tray behind the lower corner lights. I would highly recommend one.

The filter (any style) will be somewhat protected by the plastic splash guard, but it will not prevent water from entering the intake tube if submerged. I live in a climate similar to you, and have never had problems with water ingestion. You have to be mindful of large puddles and make sure you are careful when it is wet. As far as clearance, my car is a stock SE, so it is approximately 12-18" from the ground.

have any of you tried the waterproof socks to put over the filter? I live in a pretty wet enviroment most of the time(MN) so i was just wonder if anyone had tried one.

i bought the bomz CAI off ebay for really cheap... ~50-60 shipped

i never used the full piping, made it into a "hybrid intake"

a little longer pipe than a short ran, but not a CAI... the midrange picked up sooo much more power.

I have the PRCAI and ToddeMullins is correct. But if you're lowered (me) or live in a rainy/ wet climate (FL, also me) then its sort of a dumb decision in the rainy season. But as someone also said you can take the bent pipe and filter out of the fender and make it a mid-pipe setup that works great with no worries from water. Still it is a decent distance off the ground inside the fender. The splash guard has saved me from ever sucking in any water but it does get dirty inside that compartment, so clean it out like every two months.. thats what I do.

That write up is a little confusing, did you install a PRCAI, if so why didn;t you stick with the Mosterflow filter or is that something Cattman threw in the mix. Its just as good as K&N and lets a little more air in. Silcone based tacking agent, velocity stack and stabilizing vanes FTW! Then again JWT is very similair just uses cotton and petroleum tacking.

yea you're right. when i read it again today it seems kinda confusing too lol. but back then, no one knows about Bomz Racing...i was one of the first few who got a chance to try out their product and did a review on it. later it was posted by luke (vqpower moderator) for other members to read.

and the reason i changed to 1st version JWT filter is cuz it was $65 shipped from an org member, and i sold my K&N for $40.

oh right on, yeah I didn't know but you didn't say PR so I assumed eBay. Btw, thanks for that info a while back on the lowering springs you gave me..

Hmm you live in Fremont.. I have friends there, alright back to topic.
