my 96...turbo my 3.0...or get a 3.5 swap...reliability
im saving up to upgrade my performance......i want my sh*t 2 b fast BUT reliable.....i kno someone that owns a performance shop so i could get a pretty good deal on a turbo...t3/t4 kit and installation= 2,200
i hav 150k on my car now which means i would hav to either rebuild my motor or get a 98 motor with lower miles....
or should i jus scrap all the above and get a tilley prepped 3.5...
need and want hella power but reliability is very important...so what do yall think???

if i wasnt a poor mother thats what I would do personally. rather start with 260hp and add 70hp then start with 190 hp and add 70 hp

yea ....the guy i kno says hes hooked up a 3.0 max turbo running 15psi....is that safe or isnt that too much??
what about the 3.5 motor from the 2005-2006 max.....what is the block made out of ...and how much boost do u think it could handle ...safe....its gonna be an everyday driver

Well the 3.0 can handle alot with fuel upgrades and egine upgrades but I wouldnt ever think it could handle more then 12 or 13 at the most. but if he is doing it more power to him.
I dont know what the 3.5 is made of but it should be able to handle 6 psi to 7 psi stock and it should be able to handle more psi than the 3.0. I dont know how much it can handle though.

3.5L with bolt-on parts and a good tune would probably be good for awhile. If you get the need, go for the boost.
Not very long after most of the Max's rolled out. The later it gets, the more nervous I get with all the ricer activity (see: heat rolls in to shut down the fast and the furious crowd).
But on topic, do you realy think you would need/use a boosted 3.5L?

There is NO way that the 3.5 can handle more boost than the 3.0. The strongest point on the 3.5 is the crank, which can handle over 1000hp. But besides that, it is a necessity to upgrade the internals on the 3.5 with anything over 10psi of boost. Lots of guys on the org are running 10psi+ on stock 3.0's, but when some Z guys with their 3.5's tried bolting on those procharger kits and upgrading the pulleys, there motors went buhboom. A few local guys had that problem, and weren't too happy that their new z's had blown motors.

150k isn't all that much. You still have a long way to go. Unless you pound
on it everyday.

I just have a tendancy to think the VQ30 would react better to boost due to it's shorter stroke. Being in a "V" configuration isn't optimal in the first place and I would think that the 3.5 would only further exaggerate the shortcomings.

Tune = $$ I don't have, so i'll have to find a crackhead deal like i always do.

for the money... a turbo will cost just as much (if not more) for the 3.5 swap...
n/a power owns everything else, its the most reliable
and sh-t you get a vq35 block to build up on. if i kept my maxima, thats what i would have done. 13second car
