Time for engine mods

Hey,
Time for me to start some engine mods, but I hafta take some baby steps before I can move on. I was wondering what the difference between a short ram intake and a cold air intake was? which one would you recommend? Also, are the ones on ebay good to use (intakes)?

Thanks as always.

*EDIT - Also, are there any problems having either types of intake during the rainy/winter season? I live in the northeast so I kinda get both...

If you want power in the top end you want a short ram if you want power on the low end you want a cold air intake.

Do either one of them have any negative affects due to rain?

ok, your gona hear alot of people recomending that you stick with ur stock air filter cuz all aftermarket ones lose low end power but iv never seen any dyno charts. I personally just have a k&n cone filter, no power gains but what a sound. I hear there is a noticable power loss from a short ram air intake because the resonator or midpipe of the short ram has a smaller volume than the stock midpipe. Your best bet is to get a "true" cold air intake but leave ur stock midpipe. This system would be from ur MAF to ur filter. Your filter would sit in ur fenderwell and get cold air from in there. This "true cai" usta be called a pr style intake but i dont think you can get those anymore, cattman makes one a i believe, sells for about 200-225?

No unless you drive through a puddle and submerge your CAI into water. But I dont believe your going to be driving through 2 ft+ puddles.

I just noticed your driving a GLE so you have an automatic. You will not want a short ram setup but instead a cold air intake. The short ram loses low end power and you dont want that on an automatic
