Emissions HELP

Hey guys I have a 96 and I have to get the emissions done this month but I keep failing. The guys that did the test said it has something to do with a sensor on the transmission malfunctioning. The emission test changed this year in Virginia and instead of just hooking up a sensor to the end of the exhaust they now do it directly to the ECU. No one can tell me exactly what the problem is with this sensor or why is it malfunctioning….so I’m looking for any help to what u think this whole mess is about.
My only thought(I don’t know if this is right or not) is that I have a JWT ECU with an extended rev limiter….do u think this is causing the problem or would the extended rev have nothing to do with the emissions test
I need to figure this out real quick so any thoughts would help. If you have any other questions that might help figure this out just PM me or post back
Thanks
Mike

You need to get a code reader to see what codes come up. The JWT is known to spit out "ghost" codes that you cannot get rid of. If you are failing the ecu test, I'm assuming your check-engine-light is on. Buy a OBDII code reader (very useful to own) or get it read by Autozone for free.

I jus got this paper from the guys running the test.
the part i failed was the "OBD Diagnostic Trouble Codes"
with that came a description saying "Electrical Diagnostic: Code set in the computer for check engine light but the light it self is not showing. Code P0745. Pressure switch in Trans"

i dont see how the pressure switch would harm emissions? but then again its a computer that tells you that you failed and not a person.

best thing to do is to fix that switch/sensor.

P0745 = Line pressure solenoid or circuit fault

Have a transmission shop take a look at your tranny.
You cannot pass inspection with any error codes stored in your ECU.
The car must be running 100% perfect.

Does you check engine light come on when you turn the ingition to the "on" position?
If it doesn't, check or replace the bulb.
