Where is the airbag module

I've looked all over the place and can't find the airbag module on my '97 GLE. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Jeff

I believe it is under the center console, where the lid is. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I replaced the bags and module. Everything is cool now.

i dont even want to know how much that cost you...

on another note, i take it your air bag light was flashing? i asked some of the techs i work with and i dont even know if the airbags will go off when that light is blinking. on my auto my left satelite sensor is throwing a code and on my 5psd my right satelite sensor is.

Sorry to hack but if your airbags deployed in a crash what needs to be changed besides the actually airbags and module?

That pic wasn't mine, I found it while searching on google for the module location.

My car had the bags go off on a pretty low speed collision. I had to replace the windshield, bags and I had a new/used module so I installed that too before checking to see if the airbag light was on. That is pretty much all you need.

Here is a pic of the car WITHOUT any bodywork done. You can see that there is hardly any damage. Wierd Nissan programs the bags to go off so easily.

Nissan of course used a weird bolt, a "tamper proof" torx to hold the bags in, it is a T50 I think. I went to Harbor Frieght and bought a set of sockets for $10, they didn't have a T50 but a T45 worked.
