My AIR BAG light began flashin all of a sudden today!
Anyone know what the heck this means and why???
My dad drove the car and it was fine, then in the afternoon I was on my way to drop off the car to have it painted and the light goes on and begins blinking when I started the car. I tried turning it off and on again, but nothing... is this bad? Anyone?
Is this a sign that the car doesn't want to get painted?

There are no servicable airbag parts. Go to the dealer to get it serviced. The car is still completely drivable however.

Air Bag warning light reset instructions

It is helpful to use a meaningful Subject line when you initiate a thread. In this case Air Bag Light would have been better than Help! What Is This?

This is the procedure for resetting the dashboard Air Bag warning light.
This information came from the '99 Maxima factory service manual.
Perhaps your Nissan works the same way. It's easy enough to try.

Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button, a button which is
pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door
Switch (DDS).

Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7
seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF.
Close the driver's door. Start the engine.

Possible causes for this warning light to go on include...
- a fault with the Air Bag.
- abnormally low voltage in the electrical system due to a weak battery.
- a maladjusted door striker plate such that the door does not close properly,
and the DDS is jiggled on and off constantly as you drive.

If the dashboard warning light remains on after you perform this reset procedure you may have to let the dealer handle the problem.

You should find out what the fault code is before you reset it. This way if it comes on again, and it's the same code, you have a better idea of which direction to head in. the dealer can check this for you.

it just blinks

Code? It just blinks... doesn't stop, just blinks sort of fast, on and off... doensn't go off.
How do I get the code?

Thanks for all the replies.

You need a scan tool. The dealer can check it for you. Better to be safe than sorry.
