Looking at buying a '97.

81k miles, looks very clean inside and out. SE package. Will get a better look in a day or two.

What should I be looking for problem wise?
Differential bearings?
Knock sensor?
Overdrive light?
All of the above?

...and what exactly is a VLSD tranny? I now know how to find out if it has one, but what is it and why is it good?

Lots of great info guys!!!

VSLD = Viscous Limited Slip Differential. Is the car you are looking at a 5spd or auto? If its a 5spd, check for any visable leaks from the tranny and listen with the windows up and down for any odd noises that could be coming from the tranny. knock sensor, you cant really check without a obd 2 scan tool or manually doing it, just if it feels sluggish all around then the knock sensor could be gone. check the powersteering rack, if you turn the wheels all the way to the right, you can see part of the rack and boot, see if it looks wet around there. other then that see if the owner has any maintenence records.
