iacv
my max idles at 1200 and that is as low as i can get it. i tested the iacv and i get 30 ohms all aroud exept between 2 and 3 i get nothing at all. does this mean mine is bad? if not what else can i do i cant get my car to idle right i have been tyring for a long time. i tried taking the 2 plugs off the throttle like i heard then adjusting it i tired adjusting it with the ecu screw turned and also both at the same time. ive tried everything. is there anything else i can do?

Is the engine warm when it idles that high? Mine idles around there at start-up, then as the engine comes up to temp, is drops slowly to about 900. SO give it some time if you haven't been, and let the IACV actually do its job.

wow thats really high if it was me id check into the TPS. if it runs fine with the tps unplugged then idles high after its plugged back in that could be your problem or part of it......

im getting a new IACV for 40 shipped so if its not that o well i guess ill just try to re sell it or somthing. but my IACV is not working properly i tested it again. but then when i went to test my TPS my ohm meter craped out on me. its about 15 years old. i just hope its not the TPS.

I had this same problem recently, and I replaced the IACV too and that was not my problem. I also changed my TPS, and found out that was still good. When I was adjusting the idle, I was turning the wrong screw. When everyone says something about the idle screw I always thought they were talking about the plastic screw on the IACV. The idle adjustment screw is actually on the Throttle Body. Once I figure this out I adjusted the idle down and it has been fine since then. My recomendation to you is try turning the idle down by the screw on the throttle body. The procedure is outlined in your Haynes manual.

There are a couple of screws that affect idle, and the BLACK plastic screw is one of them. The screws on the throttle body do one of two things: adjust the rebound of the spring on the throttle cable or adjust the position of the butterfly plate. Think about why your car revs. Without air, your engine dies. When you floor it, you are opening the butterfly plate completely, aka WOT. If you have high idle, check the position of your butterfly plate. Your TPS could be messed up, reporting the WRONG position and therefore causing higher RPMs.

the thing is i can get it to idle lower. i know how a thorttle body works i know how to adjust the iacv. it seems like no one ever reads the full post they just read the first line and awnser. i know how to adjust the throttle. and iacv and even the tps im just asking if anyone else has tested there IACV and the connection between the 4th and 5th prong had connectivity between each other.
