My friend's car got hit while parked, it was a hit and run. How much do you think it will cost to repair?

well im not sure how much but it looks like the suspension is very tweaked now.

 

They will total it.

 

new tire, pul the quarter out and new rear bumper cover plus paint.

tire = 50 - 200 bucks depending on your preferance
pull fender, erplace bumper cover and paint, ect...800-1000 at a body shop

if the suspension is toast they will most likely total it.

Its a shame that occured. I estimate about $2k to repair it all, they wont total it but it wont be cheap to fix. Hopefully insurance will fix it.

Moment I saw the tweaked axle, its toast.

look at the tweaked axel. add that to the age and the rest of it, and yes, they will.

 

Time will tell. We know we can get a junk yard solid axle for a decent price, but insurance and local shops wont see it that way.

Damn shame. Hopefully I'll cut you a nice check and you can part it out too.

A true idiot, it is a block away from the police station and that little corner is a 4 way stop. They already towed it away, so insurance will assess the damage soon.

 

If he doesn't care to get an axle assembly from the boneyard, and the frame isn't tweaked, it's not a bad repair.

The maxima has a straight axle, which is quick to change. Fix the quarter, and you're good to go. That tire that popped off the bead probably doesn't even need replaced.

Insurance will usually go up to around 70% of the car's value when it comes to repair before they total it. If you think you can fix it for that amount, get a shop you know to write an estimate for around that amount.

 

if anything i have a rear axle sitting in my house i can give to you 4 cheap.

 

Even if you fix it, that thing will never be the same again.

 

ouch... looks like the frame was hit, man I think the thing would be totalled if he goes thru his insurance

 

Body damage doesn't look bad, but if the frame is bent at all the car's toast.

from an insurance payout point of view.. i'd probably go with the others and say it's a total given the age and value of the car..

 

Look at how that left rear wheel is misaligned. Can't be good.

OMG... thats the worst hit and run Iv seen in a while......a long while, Just cuz it will be totalled when everything looks almost perfect, almost basically off the ground....sucks man, hope things work out....

 

I hope you get enough from insurance to get a 99 SE L, or buy an sr20det s14, if you don't drive people around, or don't need the space.

 

I am an insurance adjuster, and yes, Unfortunately that max is a total loss. Sorry.

Car will be fixed on Monday, insurance is fixing it for $2100, which is suprisingly low.
