Do I need a resonator?

I have a y-pipe and I just had a muffler installed, however, now i feel that there is too much drone on the inside of the car and I feel its a little too loud. Will a resonator work to quiet it down? I was told a resonator will not guarantee quieting down an aftermarket muffler thats welded on. Anyone have experience or suggestions?

oh no, do you have one of those "10 dollar ebay mufflers" :-\

those things are damn loud, and adding resonator wont do TOO much to quiet it down... itll help a bit

use the stock resonator. it will quiet down the drone if its too loud for you. it was for me so i popped the stock one back on. all the resonator does is lower the tone and deepen it. but when i installed the ypipe it drones like a mother around 3k. try swapping to stock muffler or something much quieter WITH the stock resonator. that should definitely make a difference.
