Help Please!!!
Well my engine is knocking real loud now, and i dont know what to do, I am @ work, so i probaly have to get the car towed home, or ill jus drive it, if I can make it. So my question is should I try to fix it, or would it be better jus to but a used engine, what other engine could I put in there besides the stock one, I think I red some where on here that u could put a 3.5 liter, any info is welcomed!! Thanks!

No Check Engine Lights, I Already Checked The Ecu, No Codes.
So I Guess That I Should Jus Replace It. I Spoke To One Guy And He Told Me That It Is Not A Good Idea To Rebuild My Engine, Because They Have A High Failure Rate When Rebuilt, Is This True?
I Have Already Priced 3 Engine Installs Complete With Every Thing With The 3.0 Liter, It Looks Like It Is Going To Be Right Between 1600-1900, I Think That Is Pretty Good. All The Engines Are Under 40,000 Miles. What Do Yall Think?

I (had a shop) replaced my engine a year ago. Same VQ30DE, same year, mileage less than 20,000 miles. Engine cost me a little more than I wanted to spend because of its low mileage and shipping charge, but total was within the range you stated.
When I tried to decide a shop and engine, I also went to a shop that sells and installs a rebuilt engine. Their quote on a rebuilt VQ30DE alone was $4,500.
I was told that dropping a used engine sourced from salvage yards isn't completely trouble-free, but I've never heard of anyone who actually had a problem going that route.

I'm not sure about a rebuild, but if you just get a new engine, I would think it's more of a sure thing.
I had my Max's engine replaced (when mine blew up) for about $2k with a salvaged 3.0 about a year ago, there's been no problems since, I'd recommend it.
