Budget Y-pipe Fitment Issue...Pics (56K take a hike)

So basically yesterday I was finally able to install a few modifications to my car. I installed the B&M sts w/ a urethane shifter bushing, progress sway bar, budget y-pipe and a cattman fast cat. Everything seemed fine. Everything was installed flawlessly until the y-pipe.

The bolts and all lined up, i used all OEM gaskets except for one crush ring which was to big for the budget pipe so i had to use there cheap crap. The pipe is hitting the car in two different locations. Right where the flex section begins after the headers it's touching the car. Then the bracket that held up the OEM pipe is also now hitting the car. The sounds is HORRIBLE, i sound so damn riced out...i feel like a civic!?!?! I hear the metal on metal grinding, i feel it vibrate against the car and every time i switch a gear is sounds like a i have a freaking turbo w/ a blow off valve. When i turn on the A/C multiple the sound by 3x.

For the love of GOD can someone please tell me what i should do??? Can i file off some metal from the pipe and the car? or i was thinking or putting on the exhaust tape called Thermo-Tac? aswell as some dynomat underneath the y-pipe and then take high temp Epoxy and go over corners of the dynomat so that it's water repellent and has a good bond that won't come off. I was also thinking of making a bushing for the part where the flex section is to deaden the sound...but that'll probably melt in 5 min.

EDIT: I was able to finally get pictures of the fitment issue. I sound riced out and it sounds horrible. I went with Budget because they rarely had issues and then this happenes! Plus yesterday i got the damn CEL triggered by the pipe.

bump...plz someone recommend something. what can i do, will my ideas work??...

Can i put this right under the car where the y-pipe runs? This seems very good

or put on Thermo-Tac exhaust wrap with high temp silicone spray so keep it nice and sealed and then add the dynomat right under the pipe? That should work...no?

Damn that sucks. I've never heard of a problem like this tho. Always thought the budget fit good. I would think something cant be right tho. Did you try taking it off and reinstalling it? I'd try the exhaust tape. Should stop the metal grinding. Not sure what else to tell you tho sorry.

Try callin up Budget as asking them to cross ship a new one. I heard many people go this kind of service from them. Call the up and talk nicely.

I would use that tape considering that it could cause the pipe to rust faster.

Can you unbolt the y pipe at all and just try to shift it around. Maybe its not seated totally correct.

have you tried to pry the pipe over away from the frame/body? maybe if the front pipe is bent a little, it will allow everything to fall inline and stop hitting.

I have a cattman y-pipe but budget b and muffler. But being that I am Canadian I know many maxima owners who have budget b-pipes and have had no problem. Budget's work is incredible and there customer service is even better.

Now as to the exhaust wrap causing quicker rusting, well it does retain water agains the pipe but u can also get High temp silicon coating from DEI to stop that...

And if u got the SS pipe then the most u havta worry about is the welds holding the weaving on the flex section to rust appart but the exhaust wrap will still hold the weaving in place to protect the inner flex section.

Strange to hear of fitment issues with the Budget. I personally haven't had any problems with both Budget Y and B pipes. Hope your call to them will get things straightened out.

The car is cali-spec and the issue was due to my mechanic who did not align some flanges properly. What a noob he is.

Anyone tried exhaust wrap on rear sections? I wonder if it'll help the horrible cabin drone from the Cattman rear section.
