Does the stock rear wing have any effect?

Anybody know if this thing does anything? I was doing around 115 or a little over and the rear was feeling a little light. Is that wing doing anything back there or is it strictly for show?

I would imagine for show only.

Almost every rear spoiler is for show. Porsche 911's need them, a few other cars also need them at higher speeds, but not the Maximas. It just adds weight and can make it look a little sportier. The serious spoilers are the kind that can be adjusted.

The running joke about spoilers on passenger cars is that they provide 1/2-ounce of down force at 180 mph! :-)

well. even tho they say its for function, the stock wing really has nothing to do with the actually planting the rear down cuz its not no airfoil shape.

if u get something larger. i.e. Touring wing like mine, the reason why is seems a bit stable at higher speeds is the drag it creates, and makes the rear end straight. think of a kit with a ribbon tail.... it keeps it stable..

i've been up to 130 with my car, and i dont get the wiggle feeling i used to get when i didn't have a wing but yes. wings on a FWD do work. .. anything over 40mph has effect on aerodynamics.

i'm going to get me an adjustable wing soon (number 5 if anyone is counting) and hpoefully that will keep things nice looking and functional wise when and if i ever get up that fast.
which i rarely do.
