CAI links dont work. But the last link would be considered a HAI.

I think they are both fine. The second one is just more expensive because you're getting the k&n filter with it.

That last one is just a short ram. An injen type of intake is a HAI because it relocates the piping but is still pulling in warmer air. The short ram just eliminates the air box. Granted, its still pulling in warm air from the engine bay, but the filter is not being relocated into a warmer area like behind the radiator.
That second intake would be the best bet considering its price, your paying mostly for the better filter.

I am trying to check yhe ECU for codes (CEL came up). I have 97 GLE and the cover for the ECU have two screws that have round smooth top (not phillips or flat). How can I remove the cover to access ECU?

The screw head is tight against the cover. Should I pull the cover directly? 'cus it's hard to pull the edge of the screw heads.

Just grab the cover and pull hard. Those are just push-in plastic screws.

I checked the ECU and pulled code 0101 and 0304. Do those codes (camshaft position sonsor and knock sensor) cause engine stall at red light or stop sign? I am trying to solve the stall first. I will clean the TB tomorrow morning and replace the ECTS. I got 0101 and 0304 after my car stalled this evening for about 30 minutes before I could start it again and drive home.

why are you replacing the ECTS? And yes the Camshaft position sensor can cause stalls. the KS wont but should be changed anyhow.

I searched the forum for similar problem and found that many are related to ECTS and my car won't start up after the stall. I suspect the ECTS is not functioning. I know my TB needs cleaning because it's been having low idle and the stall may be related to that too, but I am not sure why it won't start up right away.

If your idle dips and tends to stall, consider changing your fuel filter.

I have to ask you guys for more advice. I'd better tell the whole story. About 2 weeks ago, my car stalled at the red light with no code thrown, took it to dealer and they could't find anything wrong. After I picked up my car and drove back, I noticed when the engine got warm, the idle speed when at D with brake pressed went down to 600, and I can feel a "cough" symptom(vibration, misfire?). When I put it to Neutral or Park, the idle went up to 700 and smooth. The car stalled at red light and stop sign. Yesterday, when it stalled again, I got code 0101 and 0304. Today, I have the TB cleaned and fuel filter replaced, the low idle didn't get better and the "cough" like vibration still there and the car still stalls, and more often now. Maybe the vibration is caused by misfire because of the Camshaft Position Sensor (0101)? but that's not the cause of the low idle (600rpm at D), right?
My friend who did the fix for me today didn't have the gasket handy to clean IACV, maybe IACV is causing the low idle? He's a GM mechanic, should be qualified to clean those.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated!

It's your Ignition Coils, I had the exact same problem, you need to find out which one it is by taking them out (not hard if you need help PM or Email me) using a multimeter.

My CEL is on and I get codes 0102 (Mass Air Flow Sensor) and 0504 (Automatic Transmission Control Unit Signal to ECU).
What can I do to fix this?
I just reset the CEL for now and its off, how long before it comes back on?

I agree w btvenom.

Goin by your username, I assume you have a 99 model.
They were prone to having bad ignition coils.
Try checking those first.

new one at dealer will cost $80-100 each.
people usually have used ones available in the 4th gen forsale forum.

Try getting yourself a can of electronics cleaner spray and cleaning the MAF sensor. Make sure the connector plug for the MAF is clean too.

You can get the spray from Radio Shack or some auto parts stores.

0503 0115 0304

I pulled 3 codes yesterday 0503, 0115, and 0304. Is it possible that the 0503 code for the front oxygen sensor is causing the 0115 code for the lean fuel mixture? Since i have to replace the knock sensor and an oxygen sensor is there a "best" brand?

Replace the oxygen sensor first.
Then reset the ECU and see if the other 2 come back. They're usually caused by the bad O2 sensor.

and get the sensor with the oem plug. save you the trouble of splicing wires.

I'm not sure. I would heed the previous advise though about the oem plug. The last thing you want to do is change the wires b/c of the connector.

I didn't want to start a thread so I figured post in the newb area. I have 6 plugs that I never used in my 91 max. 91 was also a 3.0. So will the plugs work since both engines are 3.0 DOHC? I don't feel like throwing them away for nothing.

Hey guys, I've looked around threads and googl'ed this a hundred times and i haven't found an answer so i was hoping someone could help. I just recently installed the Pioneer DEH-P4900iB from Crutchfield. ( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-uZnutLK...130DEHP490#Tab ) I also bought the Scosche adapter b/c i have the Bose system in my car. I followed the directions and hooked up the entire thing myself. The stereo turns on, and the power antenna switch i installed myself even works great too, only problem is that everything works except my tweeters on the front pillars. Has anyone else had this problem, or anyone know how to fix this? It would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you mean spark plugs. which brand, which model/part # and what gap setting. the 91 max had a very different engine than the 3.0 you have in your 98. If anything make a for sale thread and sell them to another org member.

I've used the Bosch universal sensors with good success, and saved a bunch of money too.
