Junkyard shopping cart.... what do I need?

Ok... I'll preface this with, I LOVE MY MAXIMA. I've had it for 4 days now, an it's without a doubt, one of the best cars I've owned... if not THE best car I've owned.

However... the braking leaves something to be desired. I've seen numerous people talking about 300ZX, Q45, J30t, and other miscellaneous parts...

I'm looking to essentially create my own budget BBK. Obviously, new rotors and pads are required, as are the braided SS brakelines that should be here at the end of the week.

What all would I need to convert this stuff over? Calipers, pads, and rotors only, or am I gonna need new brackets, hubs, spindles, etc.?

since you want your own budget BBK i assume you wont want to spend a lot so the Q/J BBK setup is what is desired.

Find Calipers from a J30 or Q45 (both are 2 piston)
Get the Torque Member also (caliper bracket)

To use these you will need the hub rings, and adapters to extend the caliper out. If you want to mate them with 13" cobra rotors, new wheels will be needed to accomidate the larger rotor. Or you could mill down 300zx/J/Q Rotors but I believe wheels for clearance are needed but not as picky as the if you had the 13" rotors.

If you find the 300zx wheels you should be fine.

if you want 300zx rims go to www.twinturbo.net - a set of four is almost always for sale for around $400, usually with tires.

So, if I get these calipers and brackets.... what rotors do I need? caliper, bracket, and rotor all from a Q45? Or is a 300ZX with its 4 piston setup easier?

I'd also like to know if I can keep these behind my 16" SE-L wheels.

No it will not clear the 16s. You have to have atleast 17s. Here is all the info you need to know.
