Creak/rattle?

anyone know anything about this creak slash rattle in the back of my car like near the package tray. IT IS KILLING ME. it only does it when you go over uneven surfaces or the car leans. its when the body like flexes. IT IS SO ANNOYING. any ideas?

Creaking on '97

I recently replaced my front bushings with polyurathane and I thought it was the sub-frame bushings, but I lubed them up to no avail. I had my better half drive the car and I listened very carefully. Previously I thought it was coming from the rear, but with her driving and me listening I kinda sounds like it coming from the front passenger area. It only creaks when the car is creeping along and I accelerate a bit or brake. Is this what yours is doing? I 'm in Dallas and it's like miserable hot here so I've been putting off getting under the car and exploring until it cools off a bit. If you figure it out please let me know what it was - thanks.

I have an interior rattle as well, it seems to come from the rear drivers side speaker area... I have never been able to find anything that would create a rattle in that area!

if it creaks over uneven surfaces than its probably structural. a FSTB or RSTB could probably help cure that.

I think I have a very similar (if not the same) problem you do. I haven't had a chance to sit in the back while someone else drives so I can't pinpoint the location. I have a FSTB so you can probably rule that out for fixing the problem. I heard the RSTB doesn't do much so I doubt that will help. Please let us know if anyone else has suggestions. Thanks!

Try moving your DS rear speaker around (tapping the magnet area) to try and re-create the noise. I had my rear deck apart a few weeks ago and secured every loose wire and pretty much everything BUT the speakers.

I will probable get back into tomarrow if I have time, the way they run the speaker wire is retarded (Bose at least). They run it through the same hole as the speaker sits in. There is also a foam type insulation between the speaker and the deck that may be suspect.

My 96 max doesn't fit into that date range. Besides, I don't have those clips on my rear window.

I had the exact same problem. Drove me nuts. Turned out it was the bracket that holds the jack that became loose. I just tightened the screw and the creak/rattle went away.

97 creak/rattle

Mine seems to be suspension related. I don't have to be on uneven pavement. Mine is more of a creaking sound and happens when movong slowly in like stop and go straight ahead traffic - as I brake and accelerate. It seems to be related to the body moving back and forth in relationship to the wheels. It's gone once I'm moving along at...say...over 10 MPH. I'll check out the TSB...Thanks!
