Life of a heavy duty battary ??

Car was sitting in the body shop for repairs and when they went to start it back up to move it to the front of the store it wouldnt stop...yea my Heavy Duty Battary that came with the cold weather package>> how long should they last...my cars got 90K on it and its a 96 ...it looked pretty old

It's hard to say and depends.
If your charging system was fully functioning and you never let the battery go down to 0 charge and 'freeze', it should last a long time.
If you do a lot of freeway driving, the battery tends to out gas as full charge is reached, and the battery will run dry.
A heavy duty battery does not necessarily mean that it will last longer. I usually denotes more available cranking amps, cold cranking amps, and reserve capacity.
I recently changed the battery in my '97 Max at 132,000 miles. I do a lot of freeway driving (most trips involve at least 50 miles.) I also recently changed the battery in my Miata, an Absorbed Glass Mat AGM battery. The battery in it was the original one from 1991 and it had 52,000 miles on it...

oh, and I'd say that the dead battery was probably due to the fact that they kept your doors open or some other accessory on. In that case, lead acid batteries tend to not recover from complete discharges too well. Drive on the freeway for like an hour. If it starts fine, you should be ok for a while.
