Die Car Die!! ....Oh wait you do that fine yourself
SO, last night just as I was about to park it, my check engine light goes off. YAY. Since i just got all new exhuast installed, my guess is o2 sensor. (was 2AM when I got home). So I wake up today, with no time to check the code, I drive somewheres, on my way there (10mins) my car deck resets like 4 times, then on the way back, I start gettting semptoms of a crapped out alt. YAY I think this is the 4th or 5th altrantor for my car. (car in garage, I got mad and left it there.)
Anyways, since my alt dies so much, theres gotta be another problem. I have done all custom LEDS in my car. Car deck, Capacitor, Amp, 2 x 12"s and I put all new speakers all the way around to replace the bose. also had to re-wire for ceferios, and i did 9004 ->9007 conversion
My guess is I F$%$ed up some wiring, got a bad part or something. Any ideas??

tell me more about this capacitor you have installed, and how you have it installed.
capacitance acts like a short circuit to high frequencies. the larger the capacitance, the more it acts like a short. automotive electrical systems in theory are DC in steady state, but whenever things are turned on/off, or when the system is first powered up, there is a rush of current that has quite a bit of high frequency content. also, the output of the alternator is not pure DC - is has high frequency content that rides on top of the DC. depending on the value of the capacitor you have connected, and how you have it connected, it could be shorting out your system intermittently. the battery can take this, the alternator can't. it has diodes inside that will blow if it's output is shorted.

I go from + of the battery, thru a stereo fuse (which is kinda beat up) to the trunk, to the + of the Cap. From the + of the Cap to the + of the amp. SHORT - Wire from Cap to the top of a shock, A short wire from the - of the amp, to the other bolt on the same shock.
Good?
Good?
I pulled the code and got
0804
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0804 is detected when the signal from the Transmission Control Module is not sent to the Engine Control Module. The factory service manual identifies these possible causes:
- Harness or connectors (the communications line circuit between ECM and TCM is open or shorted.)
- TCM
- Weak or dead battery
Lets hope the part that I have bold is why light came on. plz plz plz plz
hehehe

Is it just starting the car the cap pulls hard on the alt??? Because I can remove my deck when I start my car and the amp stays off... Or does the cap still pull power even when the amp is off when i turn the car on?
I will look into the wires. Any suggestions on brand names er anything?
I have tried many different alts. My guess is either that fuse to the Cap or them wires (I hope)
