5th time same sensor being triggered....what's up?

So for some reason my o2 keeps going off for Bank 2 Sensor 2 (High voltage). That's in the front header, I didn't touch it in any way. I only replaced the y-pipe and cat. I was expecting a code for maybe the ones in the y-pipe or somewhere in the back not in the header...anyway i replaced that sensor which was blue with a black 3 wire OEM plug. It's not the same length but it's the same o2. I still keep getting that code. I reset it, drive about 80-100 miles and it comes back, but it's not always 80-100 i drove about 3-400 before it triggered again today. What's up with that?

I once had the same problem after installing my Y-pipe. I replaced it w/ an OEM O2 sensor and the code returned about a month later. I reset it thinking it was just a glitch cause it was almost brand new. After about two monthes the same code returned. I ended up taking a gamble and going with a Denso Sensor, haven't had any problems since. Just wondering what brand sensor did you use?

hey guys.
the administrator wont let me start a new thread so this question is off topic.
the imobilizer in my 99 maxima is cutting power to the fuel pump so i was wondering if i could hot wire the fuel pump to toggle switch on the dash that is if the fuel pump recieves a constant 12 volts. also does the imobilizer effect anything else.

sorry again for the location of my post.

^I think you HAVE to get your ecu and keys reprogrammed. I believe there's no other way. But you can do that fuel pump thing when the immobilizer is fixed. Not to sure.

o2 is OEM Bosch.

Totally new sensor, it's just not the same color or length but it had the same 3 wires. I left the old o2 just in case...I think I'll stop by soon Freddy I'd like you to diagnose this bish!!!

What is the error code number your getting?
It's possible you have replaced the wrong sensor on your 99.

I had a problem where I replaced my rear o2 and the code kept coming back just like you. Turns out the new 02 sensor I got was defective. Put a new one in and haven't had any problems since then

i too, have been having issues where the sensor will go off in the same fashon as yours.

i havent replaced it at all, but it happend some time after the y-pipe replaced.

mabe it could be the brand? i havent replaced the actaull sensor, but when i do, i plan to go with denso - like noted above. anyone remember the site to buy the o2 sensors? i forget what it was called again - i bought a rear o2 sensor but never installed it, i havent got the recipt anymore.

This is the Denso Site:http://densoaftermarket.com/catalog/...N&model=MAXIMA I hope this will help you reference you 1997 O2 sensor. I personlally have had no problems with Denso products. I highly recommend their O2 sensor.

Might be the cat going bad. I got an o2 code ALOT, replaced it, and it would sometimes come back, replaced the cat with a high flo someone traded me, problem solved.

I'm more then possitive it's not the cat since that's been replaced with a Cattman Fast Cat during the install of the y-pipe. The thing is the sensor that keeps reading bad is the one in the manifold...I haven't even messed with my manifolds so that's why I have no idea wtf is up.

Unless i'm an idiot and i changed the wrong sensor...which it turns out i did

bank 2 = 2nd bank = cylinders 2,4,6

sensor 2 = 2nd sensor = the one after the one on the header. i never looked under there but is it before or after the cat?

the rear o2 sensor i belive tells you if the cat is bad or not, im not 100% on this, but it sounds like what i was told by a nissan dealership guy.
