O2 sensor and knock sensor help please
O2 sensor and knock sensor help please
I had error codes 03 04 (knock sensor) and 09 01 and 10 01 which are the front two o2 sensors. I bought the parts and had a local mechanic install the two o2 sensors (he said the knock sensor would be a 3 hour job because he would have to move a bunch of stuff around to get to it, so I didn't have that done yet). I reset the ECU after I got the car back and the same three error codes are back. Anyone know why? Could a bad knock sensor be triggering the other codes? The car has a rough idle until it heats up and sometime stalls out after I start it when it's cold, other than that it seems fine.
Thanks for any help!

Sometimes putting too much anti-seize on the O2 sensors b4 you install them will screw them up. Especially if some gets on the sensor tips.
Take them out and clean them.
Did you use OE type or universal? Universal types require splicing the wires which could also cause problems if not done right.
As for the KS, you could possibly do it yourself with the right tools.

The mechanic said 3 hours cause the 'official' way to replace is to remove the intake manifolds to get to it.
Take them out and clean them.

First off do the knock sensor yourself or get a mechanically inclined friend to do it and save yourself some money, It's a twenty or thirty minute job. The knock sensor is not triggering your o2 codes. The o2 codes are likely a harness problem (power or ground). You should have 12v at pin 3 on the connector with the key on. You should have a ground on pin 1 although it's more involved to check. Nismology will argue this, but I'd disassemble and clean the grounds on the front of the intake manifold. You really need a service manual and a multimeter to diagnose the problem. Since it's both sensors and they've been replaced...Kinda makes me think bad ground.
They are bosch OE. I don't have the tools or a lift to take them out again and clean them, I would have installed them myself if that was the case.
