suspention questions?

going to buy some struts, i want to know some information.

A.
Which one?
1. KYB AGX
2. Tokico Illuminas

B.
i think the KYB is more popular, but the other is less harsh, let me know your opinions.
the kyb has a ***, the other a screw driver, but can they both be adjusted easy? without taking things appart or modifying?

C.
the kyb is had for about 120$ a peice, and the Illuminas is had for about 150$ plus (probably about 160$), anyone have any other prices they have found?

D.
WHERE TO BUY? i need to buy these and buy them cheap, but from a good place. im not going to buy from ebay tho.

Koni Sports aka Koni Yellows....but of waht u posted Illuminas......check the group buy...if not u can usually get a decetn price on eBay...KYBs are a lil more harsh on the softer settings...if that made sense...i think you will get more longevity out of the Illunimas...are u plan on changing springs too......also take it from someone who has put 3 suspensions and prolly a 4th...and learned some valuable lessons.....dont skimp out...spend an extra 50 or so dollars if u have too

Just answer this
KYB AGX, cheap and harsh
Tokico Illuminas, more money and less harsh
Koni Yellows, most money, best performing, and still very comfortable

What do you want?

BTW front AGX & Ill. use a screwdriver, rear agx have a **** outside the trunk, rear Ill. use a screw driver in the trunk, koni fronts have a removeable **** but rears can only be adjusted off the car.

i was reading the maxmods and some version of koni's have the car modified. is this the same for the koni yellows? and if so, what has to be modified?

i would be buying the front two only - later the rears.

also does anyone think that buying two differnt brands one for the front and one for the rear is retarded? give reasons why!

many people dont buy Koni rears cause they are not externally adjustable....and to install Koni's on the front u have to hack about the stock strut housing cause they are inserts that bolt into the stock housing...if i were to get too different brands i would get Koni fronts and Illumina rear...but like i said if u can get the Konis set perfect in the rear u dont have to adjust...i have mine set at about 3/4 stiff and havent touched them or want to

I have koni fronts agx rear, but agx are junk IMO.
Installing koni inserts is nothing crazy. Google the directions for an idea of whats involved. I think its crazy that people dont buy the Konis just because of the front install and the rear adjustment. They are light years ahead of the others. If you dont want to do the work, I can mod the OE struts for you so all you have to do is bolt the Konis in.

as much as i would love to have koni's i dont see any real advantage of spending money i dont have and then modifying the OE stuff just to get it to work. i do autoX but i dont do it everyday, and i dont do it for money

i guess im going to stick with one or the other.

Pretty much but at least you can have the option of riding on bricks, rock, cement, or diamons. 1 feels just ok but is bouncy (ok compression but not enough rebound), 2 feels really over stiff for street already but is not bouncy( too much compression, ok rebound), 3 is just hard, 4 is just retarded.

GR-2 are 15% stiffer (which is BS) same as 2f/4r on AGX.

Same as stock, but possibly slightly sportier . OEM struts are Tokicos anyhow.

I just wish I could find a good price on the illuminas and progress. I changed my mind on the springs because I dont want to spend over 800 for suspension. Unfortunately most setups that are good quality arnt cheaper.

Any truth to the rumor that if you update your shocks/Struts that you need to update your springs because they will eat your oem springs up.

No. New struts are fine with stock springs. Springs are what lowers the car so you cant have new springs on stock struts.
