Leaking coolant

Hey I have a bad coolant leak and I cant figure out what its coming from. I thought it was a hose since there was a slit in it so I got it replaced but the leak continued. Its coming from the top left center of the engine bay. I was wondering if someone could tell me what exactly is in that area that could leak coolant?? Its kind of a bad description but I cant take pictures of it because I had to drop my car off at pep boys today, since I dont have a lift or anything. I wont find out what they say it is until tomorrow but I would like to know what to expect. Thanks for any help.

Thermostat/gasket or water pump.

Does the thermostat really leak a lot of coolant though? I had a steady leak and my radiator practically bone dry in not a lot of time. I really hope it isnt the gasket but if its a steady leak does that point to the gasket?

I have never heard of the stat leaking, but if the leak is coming from the water pump are (near the crank) then it may be that.

I have a related problem. I've noticed in the summer months my reservoir is sometimes on the min line and I have to top it off. Is this a normal thing or do I have a leak somewhere?

Thanks.

I would think you would know to check the ground under your ca to see if you have leak. Sometimes mine marks min, but it's because the coolant is in the engine/readiator.

Check for leaks and go from there.

Pep boys said it was the coolant line from the throttle body to the engine I think, and that they had to order it from Nissan so the quote was $301.68 total. Is that a decent price?

I tried that already though. I replaced one hose that actually did have a hole in it but there was another leak. I couldnt get to it since I dont really have any tools and it was to far down for me to see yet alone fix. I would take it to my mechanic but he would have to drive it to his shop in philly to fix it and the leak is to bad to drive that far. So im beat

You should see how much coolant came from my thermostat when I filled my radiator... It CAN leak, and a LOT. How do I know? Because I have a HUGE leak, and the only part of my cooling system that was touched was the thermostat, which , of course, was coated in the ****. I hate coolant now...

If you don't believe me, you live close enough... come by and have a look...lol.

Depending on how your engine bay is set up, you may be able to slip a finger or two under the thermostat housing (where it meets the engine block). Do so once the car has been sitting overnight, of course. If your fingers come back wet.... you probably have your culprit. Where is the puddle forming, and where is the dripping from?

Yeah I just thought the thermostat just read the temp and let coolant in? I dont know, but I wish it was that so I wouldnt have to pay pep boys $301.68 for a coolant line..hah
