Hi,

I've had the Budget Y pipe and B pipe installed a few weeks ago. I'm experiencing an issue with the B pipe contacting the gas tank. It results in vibration (banging) noise when cold, once it warms up, its much better. I'm assuming that when warm, the pipe grows a bit and hence more clearance is available. The shop that installed it, says that they can fix it, but it means bending the pipe and hence making a kink. So much for 2.5" pipe if you are going to kink it. Therefore I have picked up a piece of round rubber plumbing pipe adapter that I attached to the pipe in the area of contact. This resulted in a dull thumping when the pipe is cold, and again goes away when warmed up. I was initially worried about the rubber melting, bu so far it seems OK. Should I be concerned with my approach. safety wise?

ide be worried. today a kid had his mustang cobra up on the lift and his exhaust was hitting his tire and pretty much melted the sidewall. so, my guess is that the rubber will melt at some point. also, with the gas tank...it would probably melt through as well...

why no just try to put 1 or 2 exhaust hangers?

I had the same problem, the wire hanger was touching the underbody of the car. I put a rubber hanger where it contacts and used a hose clamp to keep it in the position i wanted. No problems, no noises at all.

I had my Budget B pipe bounce against the right side control arm of the suspension whenever I drove over rough road. Had a muffler shop tighten things up and it doesn't do it anymore.

Sounds like you need some hanger adjustments, then it should stop.

get some generic polyurethane hangers from ebay. should work just as well has nismo/any other big brand companies. it'll prevent/absorb vibration much better than your original rubber ones that have been on your car for at least 7 years.
