Transfer kit?

About 2 months ago, I got both front axles replaced. The left was done by a friend and the right was done by my uncle [cuz there were a few bolts stuck, so let it sit overnight then took it to my uncle to replace]. But when my friend was doing the left side, he literally yanked the axle out (when it was safe to). When he did, oil spitted out from under the car for a while. I wasn't sure if it was engine or transmission oil..it was dark and couldn't tell. But since then, there'd be oil spots on my driveway from time to time. My uncle apparently took a look at it (I wasn't there at the time) and said it has something to do with the transfer kit in the transmission, like there's a crack in the seal or something..I'm not really sure what it is exactly. He said it's ok, just as long as we keep an eye on the trans fluid lvl and add as necessary. Says it isn't worth it to buy another transmission and replace the whole deal.

I'd like to keep the maxima for some more years, I was thinking about switching it with a manual sometime (not much time with school and all) but I'll need a lot of help from someone who has time and skill to teach me about that.

Can someone explain to me what the transfer kit is, how replaceable it is, and what I should do? I'd rather not have the oil spots on my driveway (sometimes I put something underneath the car, but it gets annoying).

it was tranny fluid...and it prolyl damaged the axle seal when he yanked it out....that y when u do axles either be careful puttin them in and taking them out...or buy new seals for 5 bux a side snd replace not matter what......never heard of a transfer kit

Specifically, what kind of seals would I buy and how do I replace them? Will I have to take out the whole axle again?
Anybody know about a transfer kit?

maybe he was drunk and said transfer case, thinking transmission. there is nothing to worry about. when your friend pulled the axle, of course the tranny fluid will pour out if you dont drain if first. just make sure he filled it back up after the axle was back in.

Oh, what about a transfer case? That's what my dad said my uncle said (I still haven't gotten the exact words of what my uncle said -.-) Transfer anything? That's nearby the axle and the transmission area, left side specifically.
Btw, thanks SE96 for looking it up!
