My brakes are squealing. I'm not sure if its time to change them, perhaps that's why?

It only squeals when lightly pressing the brakes. For example if I'm easing off the brakes in traffic to inch up. Or when I reverse since I brake lightly. Help pls.

mine are doing the same thing... i just changed them. red stuff :-) w/ sloted rotors... i was reading that it needs some anti squeal greese... do a search and/or im sure someone will add more info to this...

just take your wheel off and look at the pad.....if it is missing alot of material change them, simple as that. if not take the caliper off clean everthing put some anti squeel on the pads and grease on the pins and see if it still makes the noise.

you DO NOT need to take youre wheel off. you should beable to see the pads through the rims. front wear quicker that rear due to wieght distribution when braking. but in my opinion, it sounds likes its just normal wear, considering that its only when u brake lightly. if you look at the pad and there is barely anything left (meaning like...the thickness of a key or close to it) than it is probably time for new pads. keep in mind new pads are only like a finger width.

oh and my exprerience with the anti-squeal grease is that is doesnt work too great, but if you wanna try it be my guest.

I've used anti-squeel stuff too. It didnt work **** for me. Most likely you should change the pads. Might as well put some anti-squeel stuff in case. Bleed your breaks after as well. If the piston doesnt go back in correctly then it will give uneven pressure on the pad and rotor and can cause squeeling.

mabe its the pads. mabe its not, check the bolts and make sure they are not seized up.

I was told it's normal. My 97 Max does it. My 03 4runner does it sometimes too. If there is something I could do to fix that, I sure would.

I picked up some BG Stop Squeal yesterday. It is applied directly on the pad unlike anti-squeal grease. I haven't gotten around to trying it out yet though. Anyone ever use the stuff before?

Red stuff? Yea I used that. Didn't work well for me. But I have brake issues.

i think you mean on the back of the pad. cause you dont want ANYTHING on the front or you jeprodize your stopping ability (IE: squeal stopping grease on the front of the pad = pad slipping, not stopping, when pressing gas pedal)

It's obvious what your problem is...you need to purchase stock pads from the dealer. I drove around for 3 years with squeaky brakes on my I30 and I changed them 3 times. I bought the most expensive aftermarket brakes they sell (ceramic). Finally I got fed up and bought stock brake pads and I haven't heard a sound since. I had the same exact problem...they would only squeal at one certain point when I depressed the brake peddle. Trust me, do this and you will save yourself a lot of headaches. The fronts are easy to change but you need a certain tool to push the rear calipers back into position.... AFTERMARKET BRAKES SUCK FOR NISSANS!!!

yo man, all dealer brake pads are designed to not to make noise. that way the customer comes back with less complaints. and its not about how expensive a pad is, its the material its made of that has to do with whether or not its quite.
