My front rotors are beginning to warp and need to be replaced. I can get a used 300ZX brake conversion kit, but I'm not sure if they'll fit inside my 16" OZ Monte Carlo wheels. Can anyone help?

Here is a link to these wheels on TireRack FWIW: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Displ...Silver+Painted

I don't think they will. Didn't Steve in Philly have to replace his OZ Monte Carlos with Monsoons because of clearance issues?

maybe find a friend that has a 300ZX conversion and slap your wheel on his car. A 16" should clear in diameter, the problem is probably if the offset will clear or not. Good luck

Monsoon's definitely won't fit, assuming they're as close a clone to the Volk Racing AV3 as I think they are. Homie97SE has 18" AV3's with a +43mm offset and there's no clearance for wider calipers--- even with a +35mm offset there wouldn't be enough clear.

Your OZ wheels... hmm... go check??

Ask Chebosto

He tried the conversion and it didn't work. I don't know the details on why, but you can prob'ly get them from him.

Re: Ask Chebosto

He tried them a 2nd time and got them on, but with his 17" TSW Revos I don't think he had enough clearance for the calipers. I'm not 100% sure what the whole story is though.

Might be a tad expensive, but...

You can try the Volk Racing TE-37 wheels. I can't remember what brake package it was, but SCC used a huge(as big as the Z's if not bigger) rotor and caliper setup on their project 200SX, and had more than enough room. And this was with 15s! But of course, at $300 per wheel, they'd better fit...

Re: I'm just curious.... what is rotor wharping?

The brake rotor is a disc, when the rotor warps the disc is no longer "flat" per se. This can be the result of a number of things. An old gf's car had a car with warped rotors that she inherited from her grandma who was a two foot driver. (Worked gas and brake with different feet)

People with automatics who use brake torquing (apply brake while revving engine in D) to increase their off the line performance also run the chance of doing this.

Symptoms are usually a shuddering of the car when applying the brakes. It's a pretty obvious condition.

If you know where to find them new for only $300 a wheel, let me know. I'll run out and buy a set.

Hey John C..

Try Dynamic Autosports. I can't recall the website addy offhand, but they usually have an ad in Turbo Magazine. Keep in mind this is prob'ly for 15s, since they said 'starting at $300.' Generation Performance also had a wheels and tire package with 15s for something in the $1500 range. I think their address is www.gpi.com.

There's a lot of clone wheels out there with the same spoke design and therefore, at least similar caliper coverage. It's a good alternative for those like me who'd rather spend the cash on power-adders.
