engine cutting when low on gas
engine cutting when low on gas
I am having a little problem when my car is low on gasoline. I have only experieced the problem when I am low... but it starts to sputter like it is going to stall out when I accelerate. Has anyone experienced this problem or maybe knows what it might be? If there is some particle in the gastank, how would I perhaps go about removing it?
The tank may be so empty that when you accelerate, what little gas is in the tank is all going to the back, thus being pulled away from the fuelpump-pickup and starving the engine of fuel...
solution: don't let the fuel level get below 1/4 tank

Looks like your tank is really empty. Go to fill it up then problems solved.
it may not be the fuel pump itself. it could also be just the fuel pump filter. if it is clogged with buildup the fuel pump won't be able to administer the fuel.
if you remove the fuel pump assembly you'll notice the small white filter attatched to the bottom of the pump. held by one small screw. if that is clean then it is definetly the entire pump.
