sell the max

Hi, I'm just wondering what you guys think. Should I sell my max and buy a new car? It's a 95 auto with 184,000 miles. The engine is my favorite part of the car because it's so smooth, but it needs a few things like four new tires and wheels, four new struts and they said my axle is leaking, and an alignment because it pulls to the right alot.

if you like it then keep it.
you dont have to buy original nissan parts, always you can go to autozone and buy set of struts or some other stuff

As WielkiWaac said, it's your call. If you like your car and want to put time and money into then go ahead. The fact that you're asking makes it seem as tho you would rather not deal with it and just buy a new car. If you have the money for a new car then go ahead. I guess it depends on that. If you're just going to buy another used car then maybe look for another max with less miles. Same engine and it might be in better shape. In the end it's your call not ours.

Keep the car. Spend the money to get it fixed. Put the money you saved by doing that into an IRA. Forty years from now when there's no Social Security you'll be glad you did.

thanks for the replies. the thing is im only 19 and i don't have alot of money. i dont want to put 1500 into the max and then have it break on me in a few months. What kind of problems should i expect if i do keep it, that usually happen in the higher mileage?

my car has 184k miles on it, and up till my 5spd vlsd tranny blew (diff. carrier bearing) it was perfectly reliable. Only required regular maintenence and stuff. Still at 184 other then my tranny everything is good, the body, engine and everything else still works. The car still pulls very good too! I'm only 17 and when my tranny blew, i considered buying a new car that i could lease that had a good warrenty. But in the end you pay atleast 400 a month for a decent new car, in a couple of months you could have already fixed your old one, and actually own the car not lease it.

If you fix what you need now and keep your car in good shape (oil changes regularly, high octane gas, etc.) the car will be good to you and last longer than you think. If you're that worried I would say to see what you can get for that car and look for a max with less miles. It'll still be some money gap between your car and a newer max but not like a new car. You wont have to worry about as many problems and can keep better care of it.

+ if you get a new car you will probably want collision but on an old car like yours you don't need it (or atleast it's not as justified)

if wheels and tires are ur only problem, I say keep it, no need to spend more money towards a new car when this one is treating u fine just is... plus u can spend it on something more useful, like... toothpaste... or soap...

besides, even if you fix those problems and possibly do an engine swap, your saving a lot of money
