Does the Addco RSB lower the Max's clearing distance? I saw a few pics of some installed, but it seems like it's pretty noticeable if you walk behind it a few feet. Is that true or are my eyes deceiving me? I already scrape in a few places and all I did to the car's suspension is H&R Springs. I definitely don't want to be scraping even more, especially not the RSB. thanks

Although it is possible to scrape the Addco RSB, this rarely happens. The position above the ground for the RSB actually does not change with lowering springs because the RSB is linked to the rear axle which does not change height either.

The Addco is bolted to your rear suspension so lowering springs don't lower it. However, it does hang down an inch or so lower than the normal suspension.

Click on the link under my signature pics and pick the second page. There's a shot there of the rear of my car and you can clearly see the Addco sway bar.

ADDCO and probably Stillen RSB

YES, there is a reduction in ground clearance.

I have a 99 SE running 225x50x16 ZR Pirelli's on stock 16" wheels. On a level surface, the distance from the bottom of the Torsion Beam to the ground is 7 7/8". Add the ADDCO where the bar is hung below the Beam, give a distance of 6 1/4" from the bottom of the bar to the ground. Measuring from the bottom of the mounting brackets holding the bar give 5 3/4".

The car body is NOT effected when adding any RSB but the underneath ground clearance is. So when on a highway, don't run over anything higher than 5 3/4" or you risk hitting the bar/brackets. I have to suspect that the Stillen RSB is about the same measurement on the bar distance. Stillen doesn't use the brackets to mount the bar.

PS-- Have the front and rear STB installed and the ADDCO end brackets have the bar sticking out 1 1/4".

Hope this helps.

Re: No worries

Cool, thanks for the replies, guys. I ordered one for my 98 just last night. Now, if I can only find out what effects CAI, Popchargers, YPipes, and Exhaust systems have on the Maxima sound, I'd be set. I'm trying to not have an overly loud car, as I umm tend to floor it at times.

Well POP chargers and CAI are going to have a little rumble when you take off with moderate amounts of acceleration. And they are going to growl --> ROAR @ full throttle. Exhaust and Y pipe are only going to increase that noise. But many folks on here have managed the noise well with different setups.

Well, the POP charger is much louder than you'd expect..well, louder than I expected to be sure! When I hit the gas, the thing roars. I mean it roars so loud that people stop in their tracks and look. I was doing like 80 on the highway, downshifted into third and floored it and people in a SUV with the windows ROLLED UP with the air conditioning on were gawking at me as I roared past them.

At 80, it has a droning sound. It's not overly obnoxious but it certainly isn't quiet.

Makes a really cool sound. My Turbo Tuf exhaust hardly makes any noise at all. It adds a very low growl at RPM below 3000 and then tends to dissappear. No noise at 80mph crusing speed.

All I have is the POP Charger and Exhaust. No Y-pipe, B-pipe or different cat.

I just wanted to open up the intake/exhaust passeges and alow some HP gain but I'm trying to keep my car fairly stealthy.
