I'm assuming you can't get around the nut?

I have everything off. I can see the nut perfectly fine. My cat and all off. I can lay on my back and look straight at it. I am thinking I am going to have to drill it out and then put a bolt and nut in there?

Or do you mean can I get behind the nut? The nut actually screwed off some and then got stuck and then the whole stud started turning.

If I am thinking correctly those go in to the square plate around the tranny hole cover (rubber thing).

I think the studs for those two are PART of the plate. You may have to drill out and then replace with a bolt. The other two on the back side (facing rear of car) actually have bolts. The two that you highlighted in red are part of the plate.

The nut on the underside of the car and the studs run into the cabin side. It got a real tiny thin nut or a washer holding the stud on and then the nut on the bottom. There is nothing I can think of hold the stud with to get under the car and twist off the nut.

If you take off your shifter trim there is a metal plate with the rubber boot on it. There 2 studs with 2 tiny nuts or washers and then on the front towards the radio there 2 nuts. I am having problems with the back right one when sitting in the driver seat. Which is the stud.

The two towards the dash should have nuts.

The two towards the rear of the car are part of the plate and do not have nuts.

Well the nuts are on the underside of the car. The ones I was trying to take off but now it turning completely and I dont know what to do. The nut is 3/4 of the way off. The stud and nut were a bit rusty I sprayed them down before I began but it got stuck and started turning the stud.

same thing happened to me. I took off the shifter trim assembly and had my brother hold the nut in place from the inside while i wrenched it off from the bottom. You might have to use vise grip pliers if you cant get a socket on the nut. If that doesn't work try dremeling them off and replace the hardware.

drill them out from the top, thats the only way. But you dont need to remove them unless you are replacing the bushing.

Well it already lose now so I gotta fix it. But yea I was thinking of just loosening the bolt running through the bushing but it was rusted more then these other 2 nuts.

As of now I really got not much of an option beside drilling it off. But now I cant really get the drill in there to get it off. Only way is if I used a 1/4" drill bit with the extension. I guess 1/4" will be ok Unless I took out my center console.

I already tried to remoe the nut on the top konak85. I couldnt get a socket to fit it and I tried vice grips but it just kept slipping off.

Yeah, I anticipated that the nuts on that damn plate would give me a hard time so I bought a brand new plate from the dealer beforehand (Only $10 for me). Having that, I just hacksawed those bolts on the old plate. I guess that for you, since you seem to want to preserve the plate, the best bet is to drill it out and replace it with a new nut/bolt. I would recommend my way, but it seems that's not an option for you...unless you want to put Good luck man, I know it was a PITA for me too.

Well I finally got it out. Had to remove the center console and then I grinded the top of it off and then cut the stud off. Replaced with a bolt and it is good to go now.

I am loving my B&M sts right now. It so smooth and easy. Only problem is getting it into neutral it kinda tough.

glad to hear that you got that off. i went to look at how hard it would be to install a short throw shifter and that looked like it was on of the major problems. how long do you think it took you total and did you install it yourself?

There actually a bolt that runs through the rubber bushing that you can remove instead of the 2 bolts I did that caused me the problems. It is really easy to install. Yea I did it myself. It would had taken me roughly 45 min if I hadnt ran into that problem. But instead it took like 3 hrs.
