M3 Mirrors installed (Pics) 56k Major unhappiness!

First off I would like to state that this was just an experiment. For $37 shipped for power mirrors that were already black with leds, I thought "let's see what happens". I didn't think they would fit well and I was right, but since so many people were asking about them I figured it would squash the rumors once and for all. The look of course is not for everyone but I'll leave it to the individuals to decide. This thread is just to provide information to others. First of all as you will see, the mirrors fit over the housing in the door and not into them. There are gaps and as you can imagine air leaks at highway speed. Here are some pics close up.

And here are some photos so you can see how they look from a distance.

Anyway, I hope this helps some of you who were thinking about purchasing a set. With more modifying they would fit a lot better, but it would take a considerable amount of work.

I guess some black silicone will help fill those gaps.

It's not that dark, it's just the angle the photo was taken, and the fact that the interior is black also. 20% tint.

those look like they are for a s10 or sonoma. I have some on my sonoma that don't have the led but they look like those.

No doubt that that looks better. It also costs a lot more as well.

Ebay, came as a set. I bought one of the very early sets before they went through the roof in price. A nice upgrade fo the 95-96 crowd.

It would take a lot of VERY careful, and neat cutting. Meticulous I would say.

About 3 hours including wiring up the leds

It's not just the bottom the entire mounting plate is way to big all the way around.

The mirrors don't look that bad. Remember it's your car. The kind of look like they're folded in already from that angle.

Not really a big fan of M3 mirrors. If you like...that is all that matters.

Seriously. M3 mirrors belong on an M3. They are the only car they flow on.

BTW, where'd you get your mirror covers Karim?

They don't look too bad. The price seems fair, alot less then led covers for stock mirrors.

I bought'em from CustomMaxima a few years ago.

They looked better w/ my clear corners. But I got tired of those and put the stockers back on. Srry for the thread jack.

I don't consider it a thread jack. It covers the options people have on the subject. Nice addition to the thread IMO. I wish I had the money to spend on the covers plus have them painted. The only reason I tried these was because they were already black and I was curious as to how they would look. No one else seemed to have good photos of them installed. I've always liked the mirror covers from CE & Paradox. Very Jealous

I got a pair off ebay awhile back to put on the wife's honda. They looked ok, she liked them but they didn't even use real mirror, it was like some reflective plastic or something, things would look distorted depending on the angle. makes me think of the the movie "The Ring" it makes you look like you watched "the TAPE" when looking through them.

I'm not sure I like it or that I'll keep them on, it was just to try it out.

These are the ones i was talking about, of course getting them painted is a must...lol no fake CF on my ride

They also make them without the LED turnsignal, apperently they dont sell these in solid black unless you get them without the LED turnsignal, but they do have them in fake CF with the signals on them only...
