so i just got this. big thanks to beyondcontrol. its a megan catback system, 2.5 inch piping all the way back with a 4.5 inch tip.

Yeah if decibels are what you're after, then have at it. But I doubt your exhaust note will be music. However, you might as well post some clips anyway if you have a camera.

Like most have said, pretty loud, but they actually have a nice throaty sound. One of my friends had the same thing and it sounded nice, loud, but nice. So crank the stereo 'cause it's gonna sound drone after a while.

 

enjoy? megan is a cheap replacement for a rusted out stock exhaust, but you are much better off with a different catback.

 

I heard one on a non y pipe maxima and it sounded very nice. If it didnt look like it looks, i would buy it immediatly.

 

I have heard one on a VW and I thought that it sounded pretty good.

yeah whatev its a little ricey with the big tip, but the video i saw online it sounded really really nice.

plus its 200 dollars cheaper then cattman and greddy so since im on a super tight budget, im happy.

it sounds straight as hell....then u add the Y-pipe....it still sounds...ok, but good god its loud as ****. 96sleepa had it on his 4th gen before he got his 5th gen. so i have first hand knowledge of this.

 

Most any exhuast will sound sound nice and smooth with a stock y. If you can post a video clip in the sticky. The Megan clip in there is from a stock-y car and it sounds silent, which would not be the case for most of us.

just got finished this morning, didnt really get started till last night. and the exhaust sounds great IMO. its a very deep growl. ill post pics and hopefully a video when it stops raining outside.

 

I used to have on on my spec V and I was very happy with it. I also had a hotshot header so it was pretty loud , but not to bad.

ya my freind has a megan on his prelude and it sticks out about a foot past the bumper and the tip is insanely huge, but please post pics when ur don i really want to see the turnout, i know performance wise, they wont let u down.

 

I have a 4.2" tip. Looks good. Fills the exhaust cut out perfectly.

But yeah, if you're gonna run a fart can muffler, it needs to be angled

 

alright so i just got back from work so it was my first real drive with it and it sounds awesome. its a very deep mellow tone up to about 3000rpm then my HAI intake becomes louder than the exhaust. and at WOT its basically the same story.

there is a mild clunking where the midpipe to axleback flange is, i was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what to put on the flange so it wouldnt clunk. i was thinking some exhaust wrap, any ideas?

fastest ive taken it so far is about 70 and it sounds great, its a little droney around 55-60 but then past that you cant really hear it. definatley reccommend it for tuners on a budget.

so onto the tip with. it looks fine IMO. it perfectly fits the exhaust cutout on the bumper and sits flat with the back bumper. so im very pleased and recommend it.

ill post pics and vids as soon as it gets dry. still gotta hear how it sounds with the silencer in the exhaust.

 

Is your car y-piped? Very interested in a video if it is.

 

yeah that actually does look pretty "in place" nothing too gawdy. i just REALLY hate the look of fart cannons and extremely oversized exhaust tips, they just look rediculous to me

 

nope its not ypiped yet. i want to, but im gonna need money for it and idk if my dad is gonna be willing on DIY-ing the Y-pipe like we did for this. the rusted bolts proved to be major problems to get off. to anyone thinkin about getting anything done that requires removing rusted bolts, dont be like me thinking "just some wd-40 and a breaker bar. let the mechanics do it, i didnt wanna pay extra to get the bolts removed, but i shouldve, oh well.

I bet your Megan sounds good but it is going to get pretty raspy/loud when you add a y-pipe. If you do snag one, please shoot a vid.

 

yeah so do i, but i was gonna jump on this occasion because someone on the org was selling it new but for cheap because he wasnt gonna install it. so i got it for much less.

ill eventually get a ypipe because it needs one, i want to do VI too, but i dont know if ill have equipment/time/money to.

Plenty of time, VI is a good summer project.

 

no joke, it gets to about 30deg. outside at the coldest here in FL and usually 60-65deg. average through winter and that's not even that bad and I'm still gonna wait for the spring.

 

well in Philly its been raining constantly for 2 days, average is about 50 degrees right now and by december itll be cold as ****. but i get to snowboard, still VI might be a summer project, depends on if parents are giving me the car officially or not.

 

I miss living in Jacksonville, FL... nothing cmpares to an 85 degree Christmas.

 

so i just put the silencer into the muffler and it sounds the exact same as the stock exhaust, just a little bit deeper.

does any one have ideas for stopping the flange from hitting the underside of the car. its the flange that connects the midpipe and muffler.

hopefully ill get some vids and pics up by friday...

i have to go under and check it out soon to bang it around, its parked outside and i dont feel like getting soaked lying on the pavement. but from when i installed it it was looking really close to hitting the actual underside of the car directly above the rear axle i was thinking if i might be able to tighten the connection of the midpipe to the hanger, or the muffler to the hanger it should hold the midpipe better. so what your suggesting fr33way might work...

you want to talk about first hand knowledge.....lol. i now own that car.

it's LOUD with a y-pipe, so loud that i picked up a stock muffler to put on there. i still have the axle back to put on when i feel like setting off alarms but since its my daily ( i drive about 70 miles a day) i have the stock muffler on. it's not bad with the silencer on just make sure you get that thing on there tight cuz i lost the first one. lol.

yeah thats the flange that im talking about, although on the megan i think on the megan the flange is actually closesr the the underside. ill snap off some pics when i get outta school.
