wait, why are you going over 75 again? im sure wherever you have to go..89 is a pretty fast speed and you shouldnt really allow your car to control that...id be freaked out if i had to maintain a speed over 75...80 was the fastest ive hit so far..

Yeah I tested the cruise up to 90 once following some crazy Protege who was cruising at 110 or so. Not sure why you'd want to use it going that fast, you'd have to be stupid or have an urge to donate to the CHP's revenue to want to sustain that speed for any period of time...

go ahead and do 90mph i'll see you at the next red light. It might be down the highway a ways, but i will catch up. Going 60 lol. You can go as fast as you want, at some point you need to stop be it for gas, a long light, traffic, etc. Next thing you know you averaged 60mph anyway. Last time we drove to florida i drove a friends 2004 chevy dualie deisel with a 25 ft enclosed trailer full of bikes, and we got there in almost exactly 19 hours. At 60-65mph.

so i dont see the point. And fall alseep going that fast on a long trip cause of CC, that'll hurt.

Fall asleep going any speed and it'll hurt.

And most major highways (where I live, at least...) don't have traffic signals...

I'm guessing if he's using the CC he'll be driving for more than a few minutes. At 1.5x your speed it'll take awhile for you to catch up. Stoplight-to-stoplight, yeah, usually the idiots you see weaving and gunning it every chance they get seldom get there any quicker than a more laid back driver.

However, I'm still not sure why he'd want to use the CC for 90+mph. Maybe he hasn't gotten a ticket yet and still feels invincible.

Well the guy driving the galant left the same time as us, averaged around 80-85mph and got the the house in FL 10 minutes before us, and spent more in gas. The gas can kinda be disregarded as the difference in fuel type, but ten minutes. What a waste to beat on your car/speed for 10 minutes.

I'm not sure where you could drive that fast for an extended period in your state, kcryan.

Now being able to set the CC that fast driving between say Reno and Las Vegas in a straight line might be ok.

I set my CC at 150 kmh (93 mph) once in the middle of nowhere on a divided highway in the Interior of British Columbia, so I know my 95 SE's CC works that high.

i dont think that long trips in a maxima are bad at all. Also to the guy who said that he doesnt like to go 80 in his max, i found the max to be very smooth even when cruising at 130.

I asked the same question... right up until 3 years ago when I got a speeding ticket for 24 mph over the speed limit in Ohio. You guessed it: the CC was engaged at 89 mph.

Forget the cruise control and focus on getting a manual transmission instead![

No Max is cruising at 130 unless it has a healthy does of boost and even then the gearing is too short.

Yeah I could deal with a little loss and take the 6MT for little better highway economy haha. But, that's only since I've been driving the highway more and more.

my cruise control has never worked. i switch it on, the thing turns green but it will never engage no matter how many times i press set cruise on my steering wheel. its really annoying because now i'm driving back and forth between college and home once a month and visiting friends at other colleges aswell. is it a fuse? how can i diagnose this and fix it?

check to be sure the lines are hooked up to the Throttle body, and then check the fuses, relays, and servo motor...

I'm thinking the modification could be as simple as removing the speed limiter by cutting the speedo wire. I will check the FSM tonight and report back (tho you're gonna hafta be the guinea pig cuz I'm not gonna try 90+ here in Los Angeles).

I don't think there is any way to do this. When driving an automatic the cruise control works off the speedometer because it can downshift on hills and such. I'm pretty sure the manual works the same way. If you could change it to make try and make it maintain a certain RPM vs. speed then it might be possible, but that's is getting way too complicated.

I realy don't see a point to this either. Whenever I use cruise control I am not as attentive compared to when I don't use it. Whenever I drive above 80 I never use cruise control for that reason. You pay more attention when you are fully in control of the car

I wouldn't want to be doing anywhere near those speeds going to Reno.

Now the trip from Vegas to LA that is a lot of straight highway and higher speeds are normal but the trip to Reno is a lot of mountains and curves. There are some crazy slip and you're driving off a cliff areas.

This gets me thinking how much I want to move back to Vegas.
