what to change on maxima 98 SE?
what to change on maxima 98 SE?
My maxima has 133,000miles, its a 1998 SE Auto. i believe the only thing changed was the alternator. I just want to know what is expected to fail soon? I am thinking about buying a 5.5 gen soon, pls let me know, thanks...
Any codes?
Well, basic maintenence, like plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and depending on wear: brakes, belts, tires, etc. Probably knock sensor too.
It really depends on how the car was treated throughout it's life.

unsure what a knock sensor is. do i buy this from nissan directly? what does the knock sensor do? can i hava a local mechanic replace it or does it have to be done by nissan technians? the car did get a full tune up, plugs, filters, belts, oil change, but thats it.
Don't worry about a knock sensor. They always trip a code, but never the light and usually doesn't affect performance (in ths application). Maxima's are usually a very reliable car, and mine has almost 200K on it, I have done recenlty the brakes, water pump, and an egr control solenoid. They tend to not be like the average car that after X amount of miles will start to have failures. I think on your year, the ignition coils are about all that is common. GL, I do like the new Maxima's too. I wish they weren't so expensive!
