make sure you count the threads on the rods and match them when putting the new ones on. you should end up in the same area. use liquid paper to mark where the link threads are. its easy as long as you do this - also note since your under there ck out your bushings for your sway bar, and ball joints. also make sure you dont over tq. the nuts.

The inner tie rods can be tricky, it makes it easier if you have the correct wrench, to use it you will need to remove the outter tie rod. Make sure you have it lined up after

If I was to go for an alignment at sears and brought them the tie rods (all four) aswell...how much do you think they would charge me for labor?

Call them and ask.

As for difficulty, if you go to auto zone or where ever and rent the proper tool it wont be too bad. But without that special tool, replacing the tie rods is a HUGE pain in the ***.

It's easy with the tool. Its hard without the tool when the steering rack is in the car. (If it's not in the car, it's also easy).

I have the tool, if you want to rent it we can work something out. The rental tool that I found at Autozone didn't have the size of spanner wrench in its set that fit the Maxima.

For a shop to change them while doing an alignment, I'd say it should be about 1/2 hr extra labor. I'd bring them the Nissan OEM replacements since they aren't too expensive.

An hour for the tie rods, ok.

But also pulling both knuckles, and changing the wheel bearings and seals? That's not a one-hour job.

Gotcha. When I did the same job(s), I remember the shop that did the bearing press work took an hour all by themselves.
