y pipe and mileage
Installing a y-pipe does not throw codes, it still retains both factory o2 sensors
The y-pipe theoretically could increase gas mileage(less restriction on the exhaust), or at least still retain the previous gas mileage. But if you are anything like 90% of the population you will love to feel how much of a difference the y-pipe actually made, therefore your gas mileage will suffer.
I do not regret installing my y pipe. it is by far the best bang for the buck mod, 15whp for $200? Cant beat that, my intake cost almost that much and it gave me tops 5hp.

and also, i think the ypipe might increase mileage. i never fill up but i know i get 100 miles for every 10$, 50 miles for every 5$ and so on. filling on premium, around 2.50 or so. its been like that forever

Y pipe is specifically designed for better air flow. This brings more horse and less restriction in the exhaust. A y-pipe will give mpg gains if you drive correctly. The extra power it gives will make most people lay down the pedal more so you're mpg might suffer. But the fact is, driving normally without WOT will give mpg gains.

It is simple physics as to whether or not you throw a code. A Y-Pipe consists of medal and bungs therefore, if you switch nasty medal and bungs for nice stainless steel medal and bungs, why would it throw a code. The Y-pipe retains the O2 sensors therefore done deal. /thread
